Features Coway’s IoCare App, filter change indicators, smart mode, and real-time air quality monitoring. Coway Airmega 250S cleans and maintains spaces up to 930 sq. ft in 30 minutes.
I’ve had a variety of air filter machines over the years, this 450 version is the best quality, largest version I’ve ever owned. It’s a beast of an air filter that very well made all the way down to the filter it uses. It’s also the most high-tech as to identifying air quality and adjusting automatically. I put this one in my basement that I am remodeling and it has done a great job of cleaning the air.The initial set up is difficult to figure out. You have to remove main filter and unwrap it, in that process you remove the grill/louver part which is a flexible plastic wrap-around design, and then it’s supposed to just snap back into place and is held by magnets on one side. I’ve yet to get it all lined back up correctly, but it still works. The instructions are of little help in this regard, but once you figure out where to pull at the bottom it comes off easily. A simple sticker the says, “pull here to remove cover” would fix this issue.
I needed an air purifier that could handle a large open living/dining/entryway area in my apartment in dusty/smoggy NYC.Since I was already very happy with a smaller capacity Coway purifier (AP-1512HH) in a bedroom, buying the Coway Airmega 250 was a no brainer.I've had the Airmega 250 for over a year now and it has worked flawlessly, quietly (except when it goes into overdrive when I am cooking steak,) and is easy to clean and maintain.First of all, it's fairly nice looking in a simple, unassertive way that is happy to sit quietly in the background. The smaller unit I have in the bedroom is not as attractive, IMHO.Both units are pretty much "plug and play." They both monitor the air, automatically switching to a higher fan speed when indicated. If desired, the "Auto" function can be overridden, so the fan speed can be manually set. The 250 has an automatic "nighttime" setting that goes into a temporary sleep mode if no change of air quality is detected over a period of time. This is great if the unit is in a bedroom, though it will wake itself up if it detects an environmental change.I am almost never aware of the 250, the main exception is when a smoky haze escapes the kitchen, usually when I am grilling or broiling meat. The unit then goes into "Red" alert, the fan switches to "High" and the air is cleared in a matter of minutes. The filtration system is in two parts: a permanent mesh screen "pre-filter" which needs to be dusted or washed periodically, and a HEPA inner filter which can be dusted off, but needs to be replaced at least once a year, or as necessary. A red light goes off when either of the two filters needs cleaning or replacement.I've noticed a significant reduction in settled dust on my furniture surfaces.Highly recommended.EDIT JUNE 10, 2023:This unit went into auto “red alert” as soon as the Canadian wildfire smog started to engulf New York City. We shut our windows and it took the 250 (and our bedroom unit) about an hour to go from red to yellow and back to green. What a relief to have these two units!

Works well, easy to clean BUT, it does NOT work for CIGARETTE SMOKE, as stated by another review. Whether it’s 1st, 2nd, or, 3rd hand smoke, it’s not useful for that in the slightest. Otherwise, it’s a good product.
Looks so good in our space. Is nice and quite, works with smart home for scheduling super easy and has noticeably made a difference with our dust. I rotate it around our 1200sqft apartment for maximum efficiency. Sensor light may be meh but the research I did told me that most are, doesn’t effect the quality of the filter
Pros:- Does a wonderful job at clearing the air. My apartment does not have a range hood for evacuating cooking smoke, and would often create a haze in my apartment. This powerhouse will recognize the bad air quality quickly and scrub out all the smoke caused by cooking. I purchased a Dyson in parallel to see which I would rather keep, and the 250s actually kept purifying after the Dyson noted “good” air quality. I could tell there was still a bit of smoke and cooking odor, and couldn’t understand why the Dyson didn’t recognize what this unit did.- Great coverage for a unit this size. I previously looked at smaller units to tuck away out of sight, but would have needed 3-4 to cover the area this unit does.- The fan doesn’t have a buzzing of mechanical sound to it, more of a “whooshing” wind, so it’s not offensive when running.- Personally, I love the look of it. I had a Dyson purifier as well (returned it to keep this unit) and it didn’t blend into any design style; this one doesn’t draw attention to itself.- Love the AQI LED on top. Easy to understand: blue (good) fan level 1, green (moderate) and yellow (unhealthy) fan level 2, and red (very unhealthy) fan level 3.- Easy pre-filter cleaning and filter replacement from the hinging front.Cons:- Had a few days of an error with the app connecting (invalid MAC address), but eventually resolved itself (unit is still usable without the app)- App is somewhat less user friendly than say a dyson app- I don’t get any history of PM2.5 pollutants, but have it for PM10- Fan speed on levels 2 and 3 can be noisy while trying to watch tv/movie or listening to music if the unit is close by (I would love if moderate air quality had a fan speed of 1.5)- No option to silence the chimes, which occur when you change settings on the device or when it moves into a new schedule block
The Coway Airmega is amazing! Super quiet, sleek design, and it really makes a difference in air quality. I noticed the air feels fresher within hours, and my allergies have improved a lot. It covers a large area perfectly and the smart features (like air quality indicator and auto mode) make it effortless to use. Filters are easy to change, and the overall build feels high quality. Definitely worth the investment if you care about clean, healthy air at home.
build quality to last for long time. easy to install
It doesn't come with a european power plug. Basically you will need to buy a converter from 110v to 220v just to turn it on. This version should not be on sale in Europe.
