This pack is very high volume but in a very compact form. It fit everything I needed and then some for my carry on. It saved me a ton of space in my checked luggage when I could divert some things to my pack. It brought me peace of mind as well to carry 1 change of clothes and my toiletries on my back instead of in my checked luggage. The style is simple but polished. The quality of the materials is really good. I stuffed it very full of things and the zippers and stitching show no signs of strain. There's a prompt here in the review form to speak about a *charging port" but I don't see one at all. There's also a prompt to talk about a "smell" but I didn't experience any smells/odors at all. The backpack is highly functional and I put it to very good and rigorous use during my trip this month. The price for everything you get out of it is also really excellent!I only wish that the laptop pocket were closest to my back instead of a pocket that is much more accessible to someone who may try to steal things without your noticing. So I ordered myself some TSA approved luggage locks so that I don't have that worry lingering. I also wish it had a water bottle pocket cuz it was unfortunate to have to hold my water bottle the entire time versus tuck it in my pack when I'm not drinking from it.

I was looking for a portable carry-on size backpack, expandable, and light weight. And i needed to fit in my travel clothes but did not need to haul my work and personal laptop.The Matein seemed like it fit the need and all my other backpacks were more business-travel focused with vertical slots for laptop. So this was a refreshing change when i received and really saw that, as I opened it like a carry-on, and unexpanded, had a good amount of room to add basics. I added a pair of Cole Haan oxfords, stuffed the inside with socks and small amenities, and there was still tons of room for clothes. When I expanded it, the Matein suddenly became even more like a soft-side carryon with extra depth. It's one big space for packing instead of 3 slots like regular backpacks.I've used this on 2 domestic roundtrips already (up to 2 nights each) fully stuffed with and it held up well, even fitting under seat on American and Southwest Airlines, when expanded (granted, it can be squeezed to fit, since I only had clothes.Front pockets are large enough for a tablet, though not padded - which is fine since my clothes are padding it. So far I'm happy with it, and will be my main travel backpack for the business conferences in the next few months.I'm watching the quality of this since I have overstuffed it and it did become a bit heavy (15 lbs), holding up well so far- especially for the main carry handle. Time will tell.The other benefit is that I can still use this as a personal item (backpack, unexpanded) and travel with a regular carry-on or rolling backpack carry-on. The combo would allow me to easily carry 5-6 days of clothing.There is no dedicated padded laptop holder for my work laptop - that's not an issue for me as i will add it to my rolling carry-on but it's something to note if you travel regularly for business with laptops.

These is definitely a great backpack for a carry on. I was able to pack 7days worth of clothing with my travel TSA approved essentials. The pockets on the back are deep. The inside is super roomy. I put it on my back and it was very comfortable and eway to carry. A great buy

I can't say enough good things about this bag. I bought it as my carry on for my last trip to Europe. You can fit SO MUCH into this bag snd it has enough separate compartments that things won't get "lost" in thr bag. This is the perfect weekend bag too. You can easily fit several outfits, toiletries, books, laptops etc.. in this bag. Such a great price too!!

The best backpack that is suitable for carry-on luggage and also has an expandable function. It is very roomy and at a reasonable price. This is my second backpack from Matein. It just arrived today as a gift for a relative. I purchased it in lavender. The color is beautiful and the fabric seems durable yet light. I cannot actually speak to the durability because it is a gift and has not been used yet however I looked at the zipper, the interior lining and the embellishments on the outside, including the straps, and they seem fairly durable. It looks like a well made item, especially for the price. The inside is large and has a good amount of depth as depicted in the pictures I attach. It unzips fully to allow access to put items in the bag and it also has an expansion option. I would like to purchase another one as a gift for someone else or even myself. I have a more expensive brand name expandable travel bag just like this one except mine is smaller. I also paid five times as much for the name brand item. This would be very good for carry on or for a road trip.

Very functional piece of luggage. It packs very compactly, fits in overhead bins on airplanes even in the smaller bins quite well. I traveled for eight days in Africa with safari wear, layers for the chill evenings and all my electronics and toiletries very easily. It expands to return with those souvenirs. Shoulder straps for long walks between planes were easy to get out and easy to stow so they did not snag things. The handles worked well when doing short trips from car to hotel room. Zippered compartments helped to keep items organized and in place. Pleasure to travel with.

I traveled to Europe with this incredible backpack, using it as a carryon. It held all of my clothes and toiletries for a 10 day trip. Every part of it is well made and easy to use. The zippers allow you to access all your belongings without fishing around. The shoulder straps are comfortable and strong. And if you get tired of using it as a backpack, you can carry it either horizontally or vertically with the handles to give your shoulders a break while you dash through the airport.
